Description
The town of “Akragas” was founded by the Greeks in southern Italy in 581 BC, contains the magnificent remains of one of the richest colonie of ancient Sicily. Walking through the Valley of the Temples, you will be fascinated by the beauty and grandeur of the Sicily Greek temples, each with its own history and meaning. The Valley includes remains of seven temples, all in Doric style: Temple of Concordia, Temple of Juno, Temple of Heracles, Temple of Olympian Zeus, Temple of Castor and Pollux, Temple of Vulcan and Temple of Asclepius. The ascription of the names, apart from that of the Olympeion, are a mere tradition established in Renaissance times.
